A Sensational Sunday 8

Yay,so impressed with my Sunday run! I wanted so badly to get outside and run my 8 for the weekend, however it was not yet 30 degrees when I was ready to go so I decided to run inside. That's right I paid $8 to run 8 miles in the indoor track-seriously? Well paying to run did provide a  little motivation to get my business done knowing I was handing over a $1 mile. The run felt good and the only times I stopped were to get water-no walking for this mom---so far so good for March. All told I think I am in better shape for this race than I was for the one last June and I am feeling good. I got my sore ass (my quads are not happy) up this morning and went to the gym to work on arms and now I can look forward to next weekends run. Okay I am dreading it a little but I loaded some new songs and switched up my playlist so the variety should help.

A Late Weekend Re-Cap

Uggh running last weekend was a challenge due to weather and time constraints. I was hoping to meet my long run goal of 6 miles on Saturday or Sunday but ended up with 2 short runs a 4.5 and a 4.7. The leftover snow and ice that covers some of the sidewalks makes it impossible for me to get a good run but I came home sweaty anyways (even though it was 24 degrees one day and 34 the other). HOWEVER I will agree with Denise and be happy that I got to run at all. This weekend I look forward to a 6-7 mile long run with better weather.

What My Shoes Saw

As I start gearing up to retire my current pair of running shoes I thought I would take a look at what they have seen in the last year.
  • My shoes saw 4 races:  2- 5ks, 1-100k relay, and my 2nd 13.1 all with faster times than the year before. Guess who they saw standing next to me at each and every one...Denise -whoo ray for my motivator!
  • My shoes pounded the pavement in Washington, Montana, and Idaho.
  • My shoes ran 150 plus miles from April-June during the Ultra Marathon with my partner in workout crime Vicki.
  • My shoes also saw Vicki at 5:00 a.m. 3 days a week (we only cheated a couple of times)for our trips to the gym for the entire year. They groaned, complained, and went anyway thanks to her inspiring words!
  • While my shoes didn't see a lot of pounds lost they did see inches lost and thus far those inches have stayed lost. Smaller pant and shirt sizes :)
  • My shoes saw the pride in my face when I looked back on all that I accomplished in the last year as a "runner" and they served me well.

On a side note..I hit the gym hard today!
